Inventories in the US wholesale trade in September increased by 0.3%

Commodity stocks in the warehouses of wholesale-oriented companies in the early autumn showed moderate growth, while the pace of implementation declined.

According to the latest report, the growth in inventories in the reporting period was 0.3% compared to August. The expectations of experts coincided with the actual state of affairs as of the end of September.

Wholesale sales in the period under review gained 1.3% on a monthly basis. The August report was revised. The ratio of inventories to sales decreased to the level of 1.27, which was the lowest value since the end of 2014, whereas in September 2016 it was 1.32.

Some time ago, the trade ministry announced that, based on the results of the data received, it could not specifically outline the results of natural disasters that hit the southern regions of the country in late summer and early autumn. However, a number of enterprises reported that they had either a decrease in sales or an increase in stock in warehouses due to a power outage or temporary suspension of work, while other enterprises reported that they had declined stocks because of damage, caused by hurricanes.
