Consumer spending in early 2018 was the weakest since 2012

The indicator of "consumer spending" in the UK in January-February 2018 was the lowest since 2012. Such data was provided by Visa and IHS Markit
According to the statistics, only in February, consumer spending fell 1.1% compared to February of the previous year, with a decrease for the ninth time in ten months. According to Mark Antipouf, the chief commercial director of Visa, the British have been saving since the summer of last year.
"As for March, consumer spending in the first quarter may be the weakest in the history of statistics, retailers are clearly hoping that warmer weather will stimulate buyers' activity," Mark Antipouf added.
